OMD to tour

Coming off a successful European tour last fall, OMD (Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark) will launch their first North American tour since 1988 with the "History of Modern" Tour this March, including the classic line up of Andy McCluskey, Paul Humphreys, Martin Cooper and Malcolm Holmes. Pre-sale VIP ticket bundles, one of which includes soundcheck and meet and greet w/ the band, will be available beginning today, January 10th. Normal ticket sales will begin on Friday, January 14th.

OMD, one of the UK’s most iconic bands, recently released their first album in 14 years, History of Modern, which includes such tracks as "Save Me" and "Sister Marie Says." Praise has been nearly unanimous, with key tastemakers declaring the release a welcome return that feels right at home in the current electro-tinted landscape. Upbeat and bristling with ideas, History of Modern offers a slightly rawer kind of pleasure to the serene melancholy of OMD’s early-’80s moments, including that of their quintessential song "If You Leave" from the film Pretty In Pink.

The music sees a return to the band's early pioneering electronic roots, a sound that is now recognised as being a major influence on many of today’s electro artists. The likes of LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy, The XX and The Killers have all cited OMD as a massive inspiration.
