Indie West Fest in Ventura June 4

The west coast has a new addition to the multiband festival list: Indie West Fest. The debut of this national showcase for independent artists is Saturday, June 4 at the Ventura County Fairgrounds, San Buenaventura CA, from 11am to 6pm PST.

The Fairgrounds, perfectly situated next to the ocean yet surrounded by comfortable palm trees, green grass and cool breezes, will house four stages for non-stop entertainment. From pop to rock, alt-country to rockabilly, more than 30 bands that have embodied the DIY ethic are scheduled to perform. Headliners and highlights include Cracker/Camper Van Beethoven, Redd Kross, Three Bad Jacks, Jetstream (teenaged rockers on tour with STP), Gram Rabbit, Giant Drag, Old Man Markley, The Ettes, Powerflex5 (feat. Corey Miller) and Rooney’s Taylor Locke & The Roughs.

Says Indie West Fest® organizer Michael Jones, “Indie West Fest showcases established artists alongside emerging creative artists to celebrate the indie movement here on the west coast, and at one of the most beautiful and accessible venues in southern California."

To support the impressive lineup and create the festival atmosphere, more than 100 food, beverage and product vendors will be on site. This is a family-friendly, all-ages event (though the venue does not allow pets). Tickets are $35 at http://indiewestfest2011.eventbrite.com and parking is only $5.
