Julie Feeney coming to LA June 8

The indefinable Irish star Julie Feeney will highlight her avant-garde orchestra, mesmerizing stage show and outrageous fashion on June 8 when the “charming, urbane and dreamy” (NYT) performer takes the stage for a special performance at Largo at the Coronet. The show comes a week after the release of Feeney’s ‘pages’ (out May 31 on Feeney's own self-run label 'mittens'), a remarkable work that weaves the brazen experimentation of Laurie Anderson, the pop sensibility of David Bowie, and the prodigious compositional brilliance of Philip Glass and Beethoven. The “eccentric pop genius” (Hot Press) holds multiple master’s degrees ranging from Sonology to Psychoanalysis, and the former music educator passionately trains and conducts every lineup she performs with.

Named the “The Emerald Isle’s Original” by The Washington Post, Feeney is also a winner of the Choice Music Prize (Ireland’s equivalent of the Mercury Music Prize) and a recent sold-out performance at Ireland’s National Concert Hall received a 10-minute standing ovation. She is on tour in the US with support from 'Imagine Ireland', a year-long celebration of Irish Arts in America. Beginning on May 16, Feeney will host “High Fidelity: A Century of Song,” a 26-part radio series on the history of recorded sound that will air on Ireland’s RTE Lyric FM.
