Beth Thornley at Hotel Cafe in LA Aug. 3

Alabama-born, Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter Beth Thornley is performing at Hotel Café on Wednesday, Aug. 3rd at 8pm. The vocalist/keyboardist will be backed by a full band which tends to include strings, horns and other delights.

Beth’s sound has been called “reminiscent of early Sheryl Crow meeting the seductive voice of Katie Herzig with a bit of underground sound a la Rilo Kiley and the softness of Beth Orton." (CTNMusic.com).

“I don’t want to get stuck in a rut,” says Beth, “or accidentally fall into being a lazy songwriter. But everything I write falls under a pop umbrella. My influences are Carole King, The Kinks, The Beatles and David Bowie. I douse it in modern pop sounds and grooves and influences from other genres.”

Thornley’s tracks have been featured in a variety of television and film projects including episodes of Friday Night Lights, One Tree Hill, Jersey Shore and Royal Pains while also appearing on the feature film soundtracks of The Perfect Man (Hillary Duff), Play the Game (Andy Griffith and Doris Roberts) and Burning Palms (Dylan McDermott).

The new video for "You're So Pony", was released in April 2011 and can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6fQ-L6Gnro

Beth is currently recording an EP to be released this fall, 2011 and has started writing songs for the play "Bad Apples" scheduled to open March 2012 at the Ford Theater (inside theater) in Los Angeles.
