Boston Spaceships launch contest and to release new album

THE RECORD
Boston Spaceships, led by Guided By Voices front man Robert Pollard, will be releasing a new double album, Let It Beard, on August 2nd on Guided By Voices, Inc. This is quite an exceptional album, with strings, horns, keyboards, a female soul singer, and guest guitar turns from such legends as Colin Newman from Wire, J. Mascis from Dinosaur Jr, Steve Wynn from The Dream Syndicate, Mick Collins from Dirtbombs and the Gories, Dave Rick from Phantom Tollbooth, as well Guided By Voices’ Mitch Mitchell. Let It Beard is Boston Spaceships’ fifth album to release in their 3-year existence, and is the product of more than half a year's work. The result is one of Robert Pollard's most cohesive and ambitious records to date.

Download the track “Christmas Girl” here and get to work! We're looking for talented (and crazed) souls to create some fantastic video visions for one of Pollard’s favorite tracks off the album, “Christmas Girl”. Anything is possible... straight out freak fests, sad British-styled dramas, operatic pageantry, pornographic science fiction, whatever you think will do the song justice. The more creative, the better!

THE CONTEST GUIDELINES
Post your finished video on YouTube and then email the link to contest@bostonspaceships.com to notify us that your video is ready for viewing. Please don't send us any video files – they will not be accepted. Video submissions will be accepted until noon PST on Tuesday, August 9, 2011.

The band will view all of the submissions and decide which 4 make the final cut. The finalist’s videos will then be posted on Thursday, August 11, 2011, on the official Boston Spaceships site and then you, the jury, will vote on the final winner! You will have until noon PST on Thursday, August 18, 2011, to vote for your favorite video.

THE PRIZES
The winning video for Boston Spaceships’ “Christmas Girl” will be featured on AOL / Spinner, as well as on the official Boston Spaceships site and the official Robert Pollard site. The winner will also receive a $500 gift certificate to GBVdigital.com, the Guided By Voices one-stop digital superstore for Pollard-related albums and live concerts. Two runners up will win $100 gift certificates to GBVdigital.com. So get crackin' on these fine pieces of work and make us all proud.
