July is National Ice Cream Month! A summer social isn’t complete without a cool treat – and PMH is pleased to provide complimentary ice cream to one and all at our Summertime Fun Free Family Day on Sunday, July 24 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Join the celebration; we’ll be serving up a dash of culture, a sprinkling of Americana music, games in the garden, and a scoop of tasty ice cream -- all for free.

Special musical guest Fred Sokolow (guitar/banjo/vocals) will open the festivities at 1:00 pm with a family-friendly program of old-time, bluegrass, and blues tunes, accompanied on bass by Lynn Solokow. Drop in for some toe-tapping fun!

At 2:00 pm Unbound Productions presents “History Lit” – play readings of three theatrical adaptations of classic short stories from some of the great women writers of the 19th and 20th centuries: A Garden Party by Jonathan Josephson, adapted from the short story by Katherine Mansefield; Two Pictures in One by Paul Millet, adapted from a story by Harriet Beecher Stowe; and The Yellow Wallpaper by Jeff G. Rack, adapted from the story by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. The music and theatre presentations will take place in the cool and comfortable Giddings Room adjacent to the exhibition galleries.

Impress your friends and family with you skills with a croquet mallet or badminton racquet. These and other traditional lawn games will take place on the lawns in the shadow of the elegant Fenyes Mansion. Beat the heat and enjoy free admission to the Museum’s popular exhibitions Mad for Hats! and Pasadena Patron, plus this afternoon of special programming and delicious ice cream.

TICKETS: Free admission, parking and activities. For further information, visit www.pasadenahistory.org or call 626.577.1660, ext. 10
