Tuesdays-Thursdays through Aug. 25: Camellia Lounge and extended summer hours
The Camellia Lounge by Patina returns to the Full Moon Tea House in the Japanese Garden with an enticing menu of signature cocktails, small plates and snacks. Open 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays-Thursdays. Also, Descanso is open extended hours Tuesdays-Thursdays through Aug. 25, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. No reciprocal garden admissions after 4:30 p.m.



Saturdays through September: Saturday Morning Garden Chats, 9:30 a.m.

Display Horticulturist Mike Brown leads informal talks. Bring your gardening questions! Free with admission.



Tuesday, Aug. 2, Elizabethan Festival, 5:30 p.m.
The Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum presents a family-friendly evening of interactive theater performance and dance. Part of the Summer Family Series. Bring a picnic (usually not allowed in the Gardens.) Free with Gardens admission: $8 adults, $6 seniors/students, $3 children 5-12, free for children 4 and younger. No reciprocal gardens admissions.



Thursday, Aug. 4: Bob Sheppard in concert, 5:30 p.m.
The renowned reed player performs straight-ahead jazz. Part of “Music on the Main,” the 10-week Descanso summer jazz series. Bring a picnic (usually not allowed in the Gardens.) Free with Gardens admission: $8 adults, $6 seniors/students, $3 children 5-12, free for children 4 and younger. No reciprocal gardens admissions.

Thursday, Aug. 11: Mandala in concert, 5:30 p.m.
Enjoy jazz with a Cuban flavor. Part of “Music on the Main,” the 10-week Descanso summer jazz series. Bring a picnic (usually not allowed in the Gardens.) Free with Gardens admission: $8 adults, $6 seniors/students, $3 children 5-12, free for children 4 and younger. No reciprocal gardens admissions.

Thursday, Aug. 18: Robert Kyle in concert, 5:30 p.m.

Enjoy music from the Brazilian songbook. Part of “Music on the Main,” the 10-week Descanso summer jazz series. Bring a picnic (usually not allowed in the Gardens.) Free with Gardens admission: $8 adults, $6 seniors/students, $3 children 5-12, free for children 4 and younger. No reciprocal gardens admissions.

Yoga Sessions Begin Week of Aug. 22

Descanso’s yoga program includes a 25-minute fitness walk and 60-minute yoga practice. Morning classes: 8:30 a.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Evening classes: 5:30 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Members only. $120 for 10 weeks, $18 for a drop-in session. For new students, first class is free.



Thursday, Aug. 25: Denise Donatelli in concert, 5:30 p.m.

The 2010 Grammy® nominee for Best Jazz Vocal Album, Denise Donatelli performs at Descanso in the last concert of the “Music on the Main” summer jazz series. Bring a picnic (usually not allowed in the Gardens.) Free with Gardens admission: $8 adults, $6 seniors/students, $3 children 5-12, free for children 4 and younger. No reciprocal gardens admissions.



About Descanso Gardens: Established as a public garden in 1954, Descanso Gardens is located at 1418 Descanso Drive, La CaƱada Flintridge, near the interchange of the 2 and 210 freeways. The Gardens are open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except Christmas Day. Parking is free. Admission fees are $8 for adults; $6 for seniors and students; $3 for children 5 to 12, and free for members and children 4 and younger. Fees for classes and programs include Gardens admission.
