Don Mclean & new musical Aug. 27 in Pasadena

Join us for a spectacular 2-part extravaganza featuring the world premiere of “THE REAL LOVE,” a unique musical, as well as American icon DON MCLEAN in concert. This exciting event is in celebration of Supreme Master Television’s 5th anniversary of all-constructive global programming.

“THE REAL LOVE” is a poignant Broadway-style musical inspired by an extraordinary, true love story, starring Tony winner Daisy Eagan (“THE SECRET GARDEN”), Tony winner Cady Huffman (“THE PRODUCERS”), Tony nominee Adam Pascal (“RENT” original cast), and Tony nominee Robert Torti (“STARLIGHT EXPRESS”), with guest stars including internationally recognized Tony winner and Broadway legend Betty Buckley (“CATS”), Oscar winner Shirley Jones (“THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY”), and Emmy winner Faith Rivera, leading a vivacious and dazzling 40-member cast.

“Something is more intuitively better, naturally better in music to inspire you into going to peace. So I can only imagine over the years that we musicians have learned to speak this language of music which is emotion. When music really works, it works at that level,” says Bill Conti (19-time Music Director of the Academy Awards), one of the composers of the new musical.

The musical features the heartfelt poetry of Supreme Master Ching Hai, world-renowned spiritual leader, humanitarian, bestselling author, poet and artist, set to music by a constellation of eminent composers: Oscar & 5-time Emmy winner Bill Conti (“ROCKY”), 2-time Oscar winner Al Kasha (“The Morning After” from “THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE”; “SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS”), Emmy nominee Doug Katsaros, Tony & Emmy winner Don Pippin (“OLIVER”), and Oscar & 2-time Grammy winner David Shire. The profound lyrics soar as the melodies are accompanied by a seasoned 20-piece orchestra.

David Shire (“BABY”) explains, “I take a kind of playwright’s approach to writing songs. It’s a growing emotion, and that is as much the lyricist’s responsibility as the composer’s… I think it’s probably because of the largeness of the Supreme Master’s soul that she has the kind of largeness of artistic temperament.”

A special guest performance will also be given by the legendary singer and Hall of Fame songwriter DON MCLEAN, with some of his most famous hits including “American Pie,” “And I Love You So,” and “Vincent (Starry Starry Night),” plus more.

The grand celebration concludes with a complimentary banquet featuring sumptuous dishes catered by LA's premier vegan restaurants. This one-time, semi-formal event will be recorded and broadcast around the globe on Supreme Master Television. Plan to arrive early at 12 pm to enjoy an ART EXHIBITION of the creative works of Supreme Master Ching Hai. Complimentary refreshments will be served.
