Art on Palm, an Altadena arts and fine crafts show presents $10,000 to Tim Byk, Founder/Executive Director of the Greater L.A. Fisher House Foundation, formerly the West L.A. Fisher House Foundation, in the canyon garden of show hosts, Maryrose Smyth and Mark Pickett.
At each show the artists of Art on Palm contribute a percentage of their sales to the Greater L.A. Fisher House. This has resulted in a cumulative contribution of $10,000. Art on Palm is a one-day-only show that occurs each spring and fall. The next Art on Palm will be on Saturday, October 29, 2011.
The Greater L.A. Fisher House Foundation–of the Fisher House TM program–, located on the campus of the West Los Angeles V.A. Health Center, is a ‘comfort home’, which enables family members to be close to their loved one during a hospitalization for an unexpected, illness, disease, or injury. This unique-private-public partnership meets a humanitarian need beyond that normally provided by the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs.
“We choose to support the Greater L.A. Fisher House Foundation because of the compassionate support they deliver to the members of our community who serve in the military and their families. We believe that everyone can make a positive difference in the lives of those who serve our country”, stated co-presenter Catherine M. S. Cowles.
“The Greater L.A. Fisher House Foundation appreciates the generosity of the Art on Palm artists. In the past 28 months we have served 500 families at our facility alone and more are waiting to be helped. Contributions from events like Art on Palm make a real and positive difference in the lives of this vital community”, commented Tim Byk, Founder/Executive Director, Greater L.A. Fisher House Foundation. For more information, please visit www.westlafisherhouse.org.
