Duff McKagan’s Loaded, have just returned from a European trek and, are about to go into production for their upcoming feature film The Taking. This rock ‘n’ roll flick, reminiscent of The Beatles’ “A Hard Day’s Night” and Led Zeppelin’s “The Song Remains The Same,” is a series of “vignettes” that explores the lyrical content of their recently released studio album of the same title (Armoury Records – April 19, 2011). A video of “Executioner’s Song,” shot live during their European tour has recently been released.
Grammy/American Music Award-winning songwriter/recording artist Duff McKagan has sold over 100 million albums, and ushered in a whole new generation of hard rock fans as a founding member of Guns ‘N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver. In Loaded, which he formed in 1999, McKagan steps up as lead singer, songwriter, and guitarist, with bassist Jeff Rouse, guitarist Mike Squires, and drummer Isaac Carpenter.
The past few months have kept Loaded busy, with not only The Taking album, released to critical acclaim, and the special edition CD/DVD re-issue of their 2009 album Sick (Armoury Records – May 24,2011), they also embarked on an international tour, and performed at Austin’s SXSW Music Conference. Additionally, McKagan was a featured speaker, hosting the seminar “Your Financial Advisor Is Duff McKagan” (he is a graduate of the acclaimed Albers School of Business and a partner in wealth management firm Meridian Rock).
In addition to the film, fans can also look forward to a few stateside dates, including a stop at Rock On The Range Canada in Winnipeg on August 20, KISW Pain In The Grass in Auburn, WA on August 27, and PDX Rock Festival in Hillsboro, OR on August 28. More U.S. dates will be announced soon.
