Fitz & the Tantrums on tour and in the studio

Fitz and The Tantrums will launch an extensive North American tour tomorrow night at WorkPlay Soundstage in Birmingham, AL. In addition to its headline dates, the band will play a two-night stand with Dave Matthews Band at New York's Jones Beach Amphitheater (6/12 & 13), join Ben Harper at the Santa Barbara Bowl (6/30) and the Hollywood Bowl (7/1), and make its return to Colorado's Red Rocks Amphitheatre for a Fourth of July show with Blues Traveler. Fitz and The Tantrums will also perform at numerous festivals (including Bonnaroo and Outside Lands). See below for itinerary.

For a limited time, the band is giving away a five-song EP at http://fitzandthetantrums.com. The collection includes live versions of "Don't Gotta Work It Out," "L.O.V.," "Rich Girls" and "MoneyGrabber," all recorded at the House of Blues in Boston, plus "Breakin' The Chains of Love Brand New Karate World Remix."

The band - comprising Fitz (vocals),Noelle Scaggs (back-up vocals/tambourine),James King (saxophone), Jeremy Ruzumna (keyboards), John Wicks (drums) and Joseph Karnes (bass) - is currently at work on the follow-up to 2010's Pickin' Up the Pieces, which spent 73 weeks on Billboard's Heatseekers chart, peaking at No. 1. Produced by Tony Hoffer (Beck, M83, Depeche Mode, Phoenix), the yet-to-be-titled sophomore album is scheduled for release on October 9 on Dangerbird Records. Fans can follow the band's progress in the studio at http://fitzandthetantrums.com.

"Their debut effort, Pickin' Up the Pieces (Dangerbird), bursts with danceable hooks," said The New York Times while Esquire praised it as "positively infectious." "This proudly guitar-less sextet of soulful Angelenos throw a sparkling pop gloss on a familiar Motown sound," said Rolling Stone, which awarded the album three-and-a-half stars and featured the band in its "Hot List" issue. Fitz and The Tantrums were named a "You Oughta Know" artist by VH1 and views for the video for the hit single "MoneyGrabber" have surpassed three million. You can check out the clip at:

Fitz and The Tantrums made their debut in December 2008, playing their first show at Hollywood's Hotel Café. Based on the strength of their five-song 2009 EP, Songs for a Breakup, Vol. 1, they soon found themselves appearing on KCRW's "Morning Becomes Eclectic," touring with Maroon 5 and signing with Dangerbird Records, which released the band's full length debut in 2010.

Since the release of Pickin' Up the Pieces, Fitz and The Tantrums have completed two sold-out U.S. headline tours and appeared at numerous international music festivals. They've appeared on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon," "Jimmy Kimmel Live," "Conan," "Last Call with Carson Daly" and "The Rachael Ray Show" and their songs have been tapped for the films "Friends with Benefits" and "Horrible Bosses" as well as hit television shows like "Grey's Anatomy," "Criminal Minds," "Desperate Housewives" and "90210."
