Jason Heath and the Greedy Souls couple rough-and-ragged folk and country strains with punk idealism on their second full-length, Packed for Exile. The result is a sound that defies convention and is instantly familiar. “The idea is to seek a kind of honesty in everything we do,” says Heath.

Vigilant in their quest for justice and truth, the Greedy Souls are a rag-tag team of LA musicians from all corners of the music scene. Lead singer/songwriter Heath and drummer Abraham Etz have been partners in music for several years including the indie band Spinewire, who recorded with Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello and producer Dennis Herring (Elvis Costello, Modest Mouse). They are joined by guitarist Aaron Gitnick, bassist Will Mack and accordion/organist Jason Federici, son of Danny Federici, the organ/accordion player for Bruce Springsteen’s E Street band. Adding renowned honky-tonk pianist Chris Joyner and fiddle player Ysanne Spevack, the band has firmly rooted themselves in the traditional sound of Americana.

Packed for Exile showcases the band's Americana soul with confessional, defiant songwriting and an undeniably folk/rock sound. Heath draws from Bob Dylan and The Band for their organic sound and vibe, but takes cues from the Dead Kennedys and Woody Guthrie for lyrical inspiration.

“Feeling Americana? Maybe a little Jason Heath & The Greedy Souls is just what you need. The Los Angeles band’s newest long-player, Packed for Exile, is a heapin’ helpin’ of rocking roots, sure to find favor with fans of biggies (Tom Petty) and littlies (I See Hawks In L.A.) of kosmic American music, and features somewhat surprising cameos from big rawk heavyweights Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine) and Brother Wayne Kramer (MC5). Packed for Exile doesn’t drop until July 3rd, but we’re pouring accordian-driven earwig California Wine to anyone who’s got a mean, mean thirst for watertight hooks and goodtime singalongs.”--My Old Kentucky Blog

"Jason Heath & the Greedy Souls speak to the heartache and joy in the world, with the wisdom not to try to separate them, and the skill to make
all of it beautiful. They're one of my favorite new groups even when they aren't playing with Wayne Kramer." -- Dave Marsh, Sirius/XM Radio Host

“Twangy rock and roll is a good thing. Twangy rock and roll in ¾ time is a better thing. And Twangy rock and roll in ¾ time with accordions is even better still. Maybe even exquisite. Put all three together and add a bit of swagger and you have the music of Jason Heath and the Greedy Souls.”--Independent’s Day Radio
