Moonday poetry reading in La Canada June 17

Moonday East starts feeling the summer on the 3rd Sunday in June, the 17th at 2 pm, at the beautiful Flintridge Bookstore in La Cañada. Moonday is hosted by Alice Pero and Lois P. Jones. The East Side reading occurs on the 3rd Sunday of every month from 2 to 4 pm. There will be a feature and open mic. Come early to sign up for the open reading. Katayoon Zandvakili's collection of poetry, Deer Table Legs, won the University of Georgia Press Contemporary Poetry Series prize, and the book’s title poem was awarded a Pushcart Prize. Her work has been anthologized—American Poetry: The Next Generation, A World Between: Poems, Short Stories, and Essays by Iranian-Americans, Let Me Tell You Where I've Been: New Writing by Women of the Iranian Diaspora, Language for a New Century: Contemporary Poetry from the Middle East, Asia and Beyond, The Poetry of Iranian Women, and In Our Own Words: A Generation Defining Itself, Volume 8—and published in journals such as Lumina, caesura, Five Fingers Review, Rattapallax, Arte East, Private Photo Review, and narrativemagazine.com.



Poemland Security had sealed Fred Longworth's file. Alas, someone hit SEND when they intended to punch DELETE. And as a result, we've been able to secure a few details from his poetry résumé. Over the years his poems have found solace and sanctuary in numerous zines including Pearl, Spillway, Stirring, Comstock Review, California Quarterly, Tule Review, Rattapallax, and Ignatian Literary Magazine.He continues to work on his three unpublished chapbooks: Wrong Words in the Wrong Order, Insensitive Poems for Barbarians, and Cheap Talk. He lives in San Diego, where he makes his living restoring vintage audio components
