THIS SATURDAY: Capture Creatures by Becky Dreistadt

ARTIST CREATES HER OWN POKÉMON-INSPIRED UNIVERSE WITH EXHIBIT & BOOK RELEASE

Gallery Nucleus in LA presents a new project by animator, illustrator, and comic artist Becky Dreistadt.  Capture Creatures is a year-long showcase of 151 creatures hand-painted by the artist, accompanied with imaginative stories by her partner Frank Gibson.  The enterprising concept culminates this weekend with an exhibition of the original work, hardcover book release, and a new toy, t-shirt, and prints.  The artist will be on hand during the opening event to greet fans and sign the new releases!  Learn more

THIS SATURDAY: Ukiyo-e Heroes by Jed Henry

VIDEO GAMES RE-ENVISIONED AS JAPANESE WOODBLOCK & INK BRUSH

To celebrate Japan's contribution to video games, illustrator Jed Henry has taken his favorite game characters, and returned them to the ukiyo-e style. Modern costuming has been traded for the medieval, but the essence of each character remains, proving that you can't take the Ukiyo out of these modern pop icons.  The artist also thrills us with ink drawings of characters from Final Fantasy, Mario Bros, the artist's own EDO Superstars game release and others!  Learn more
