The Dadbeats at Descanso Gardens on June 16

The Dadbeats, a local cover band that plays eclectic hits from the '60s to the '90s, will perform at Descanso Gardens' annual Father's Day Barbecue on Sunday, June 16.
The Dadbeats were Verdugo Woodlands Elementary School dads who got together to play one song for a school event. Fast forward three years -- these daddies (who work in medicine, finance, design, marketing and entertainment) are playing gigs at local venues and winning fans with their repertoire that includes tunes by the Beatles, the Cure, Elvis Costello, the Ramones, Tom Petty -- well, you get the idea. The Dadbeats perform from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in the Under the Oaks Theater. Concert free with admission.

This year, Patina will offer three barbecue options for Father's Day:
  • A sitdown barbecue with seatings at11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. $37 adults ($29 Descanso members), $15 children 4-12 (under 3 are free). Reservations required: (213) 663-9016.
  • Pre-order box meals are available to enjoy picnic-style on the Main Lawn. Deadline to order is 4 p.m. Friday, June 14. Information: (213) 663-9016
  • As in years past, the Patina chefs will sell man-pleasing barbecue favorites a la carte from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (no outside picnics allowed in the Gardens).

Meet the Dadbeats.
