Dog Faced Gods ready new effort and launch tour

I've caught this band live and they were great! ~M

DOG FACED GODS SET TO UNLEASH 'SPIT IN MY EYE' VIA VOODOO NATION RECORDS, FILM VIDEO FOR 'MELTDOWN'

"We're targeting a better audience I think. I think we're doing things right, and we're making things we really want to make." Drummer Paul Garcia certainly doesn't mince words, and after hearing the latest release by his band, Dog Faced Gods, you'll have to agree with his assessment.
Specializing in classic melodic metal sounds (a la Alice in Chains and Zakk Wylde's many projects over the years), 'Spit In My Eye' has 'crossover potential' written all over it.
"I just want to get DFG out to the world," adds singer Short Dawg. "I don't want to be one of those who have a passion for music…but nobody ever hears it."

Dawg offers a synopsis of Dog Faced Gods' story thus far. "Band was started in 2002 by a friend and I. I was in the process of working on my hip-hop album, Short Dawg 'Short Stories.' Some one brought up the Idea of doing a rock band. We sat down, wrote a song, and it was great. So we decided to write an album and that become Dog Faced Gods' 'Stoned Council' - released in 2004. Now here three years later after touring from our first album, and losing almost all the band members except me and the drummer Paul Garcia. We have since developed a whole new bunch of musicians - two new guitarist and a new bassist. We have put together a new album Dog Faced Gods - 'Spit In My Eye'."

And it certainly doesn't hurt that the album's strongest track, "Meltdown," has been plucked as the first video. "I think it's probably the coolest song on there," explains Garcia. "It has a lot of good rhythms - it has everything I think music needs today, without going overboard and doing things a little too heavy or things a little too light. It's right smack down the middle. The song is pretty much like a look on how things are turning out today - you look at it as a global perspective and how humans these days are pretty much destroying the earth. It's kind of political, kind of artsy in a way."

Dawg on the other hand, has a few other favorite tracks. "'Bad MoFo' one of my favorites - it was a test for me as a singer to get it right in the pocket, 'cause it's a crazy in your face rock track, with an old-school punk style. 'Burden' is another favorite that's like the slowest one to me, cause it has more singing verses, then it dives into the plain simple hook that makes its hard third verse. The Doors' Jim Morrison inspired me on this album - one of the groups I hold deep in my heart."

In addition to Dawg and Garcia, Dog Faced Gods consists of guitarists Aaron Brown and Duane Jones, and bassist Billy Winbun. And this is the line-up that will be plugging 'Spit In My Eye' with a barrage of live dates.
"We are really looking forward to getting on other tours with some other bands. Some of our goals is to really tour for a good long time. Just try to push everything forward, and make people listen to it." According to Dawg, the group's plan and ultimate goal is simple - "Getting out on tour to establish some new fans and hope to make enough noise for some big guys in the industry to pick us up."
