Thunder in the House benefit set for Sunday

Casa Colina Centers for Rehabilitation Foundation, in partnership with Pomona Valley HOG Chapter, presents Thunder in the House, Ride for Heroes on Sunday, October 28, 2007. The event will be held on Casa Colina’s 20-acre medical and rehabilitation campus at 255 East Bonita Avenue in Pomona, and offers activities for motorcyclists as well as non-riders.

Key sponsors include the Asbestos Workers Union Local 5, Casa Colina Surgery Center, JB Specialty Contractor, SYSCO, Medical Development Specialists and Schapiro & Leventhal, LLP. Proceeds from the event will be used to support physical rehabilitation services for local and national heroes who include military personnel, veterans, police officers, firefighters, and other civil servants. Casa Colina is a non-profit organization that has served the community for over 70 years and provides services to individuals, regardless of their ability to pay.

Motorcycle riding participants will enjoy a Poker Run starting at Casa Colina at 9:00 am, which includes a scenic ride throughout the Inland Empire and eventually returning to Casa Colina by 12 noon for the day’s activities. A cash gift of $400 will be awarded to the “Best Hand” and $200 for the “Low Hand.” The non-riding portion of the event will occur at Casa Colina from 9 am to 4 pm and will include live music by long-time event supporters and performers, the Reno Jones Band, as well as ThundHerStruck, an all-girl tribute to the popular AC/DC rock band. Vendors, food, beer garden, bike show, raffles, and drawings for three cruises to Mexico and a grand prize drawing for a Hawaii vacation will be held at the event.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Casa Colina Foundation and are $30 per couple or $20 per individual (additional $5.00 after October 8). Raffle tickets for the vacation drawings are available for $10 each and are available before and during the event.
