Toryn Green of Fuel to perform for NASCAR fans

On Sunday, Nov. 18, at Homestead-Miami Speedway, fuel will be propelling the cars of the world’s most elite NASCAR drivers during Ford Championship Weekend….But only after the lead singer of Fuel ignites the patriotism of a full house of NASCAR fans.

Homestead-Miami Speedway today announced that Toryn Green of rock band Fuel will perform the national anthem prior to Ford Championship Weekend’s Ford 400 race (Sunday, 3:30 p.m., ABC-TV)—the final race in the Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup.

“Toryn’s A-list performance talent goes hand-in-hand with NASCAR’s series-crowning event: Ford Championship Weekend,” said Homestead-Miami Speedway President Curtis Gray. “We’re honored to have him kick off the 2007 NEXTEL Cup finale.”

“I’m excited to not only be singing our national anthem in front of a full house of NASCAR fans, but to be there at Homestead-Miami for the Ford 400 to see who takes home the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Championship!” Green said. “It really is an honor.”

Since bursting on the scene with their full-length debut “Sunburn” (1998), Fuel has sold more than 3.5 million albums while touring worldwide—both headlining as well as opening for bands including Aerosmith, Kid Rock and Creed. The multi-platinum musicians have to their credit Top 5 singles “Shimmer,” “Innocent” and “Hemorrhage (In My Hands),” the latter of which sat No. 1 on the charts for 12 straight weeks. And with the Oct. 23 release of the new single “Gone”—off of Epic Records’ “Angels and Devils”— that trend is likely to continue. “Angels and Devils” represents Fuel’s first release featuring new frontman Green, selected from a pool of thousands who auditioned to replace the band’s former lead singer.

During the audition process, band members Carl Bell and Jeff Abercrombie were “floored” to hear Green’s multi-octave “epic voice” on modern-rock Fuel hits—a vocal impression Green looks forward to leaving on 70,000 fans filling the seats during Ford Championship Weekend.
