The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) is once again calling on animal lovers all over the country to 'Go Orange for Animals' on April 10th, joining the ASPCA in celebrating the human-animal bond and the organization's victories on behalf of animals. Following the success of ASPCA Day 2007, the organization is inviting dedicated pet-parents and anyone who feels they are 'orange at heart' to celebrate our-four legged friends this year on April 10th by taking part in a variety of community efforts aimed at raising awareness for the ASPCA's mission. Beginning February 1st, the public can log on to www.aspca.org/aspcaday and enter to win an ASPCA Day kit, which will include items to help spread the word in your community and bring you one step closer to the title of Community Leader.
The ASPCA will begin accepting Community Leader entries on April 11th, when we will encourage ASPCA Day participants to tell us how they celebrated the big day.
"We were inspired by the response to last year's contest and both the number and quality of entries we received, "said ASPCA President & CEO, Ed Sayres. "We know that animal lovers far and wide look forward to sharing ASPCA Day with us. This contest gives us the opportunity to thank them for their devotion to animals and their support of our mission."
The ASPCA Day Community Leader Contest, sponsored by Iams® Dog and Cat Foods, will award the most creative and compelling entry that illustrates how you effectively celebrated and promoted ASPCA Day with a two night/three day trip to New York City, a guided tour of the newly-renovated ASPCA shelter, and an opportunity to meet ASPCA President & CEO Ed Sayres as well as its Humane Law Enforcement officers, who are featured on the award-winning series, "Animal Precinct," on Animal Planet.
The winners will also be photographed and featured in ASPCA Action, the ASPCA's quarterly member newsmagazine, and their stories and photos will be highlighted on the Web site and in the ASPCA's weekly e-newsletter, News Alert.
Additionally, the winners will receive a year's supply of pet food for their dog or cat, a matching year's supply for a homeless pet at an animal shelter of their choice and an Iams® Premium Gift Basket.
For more information on ASPCA Day, please visit www.aspca.org/aspcaday and be sure to check back in after April 10th for instructions on how to enter the Community Leader Contest.
