Butch Walker to release digital double album and live DVD

When Butch Walker was just a boy, he spent hours sitting in his bedroom, methodically tearing small pieces of paper into perfectly straight and narrow strips. Young Butch would then carefully roll these balls into little curling masses and dip them in a glass of water, placing them inside oversized straws, and stowing them away to be launched at his schoolyard friends and enemies. But this isn't about spitballs, and who knows – that story might not even be true.
For almost two decades, Butch Walker has seen success both as a front man (Marvelous 3, Butch Walker and The Let's Go Out Tonites) and as a musical Wizard of Oz man-behind-the-curtain (producing and writing with Avril Lavigne, Fall Out Boy, Pink, The Donnas, Hot Hot Heat and more.) With this, "Leavin' the Game on Luckie St.," his latest project will be released as a digital double album and live DVD.
Butch Walker does what spitball making kids often dream of, performing for a sea of devoted fans. Recorded at the Tabernacle in his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia, during the 2007 "Butch Walker and the Let's Go Out Tonites" tour the releases include 24 songs taken from his recent albums along with some favorite covers like Springsteen's "Born to Run" and 90s hit "Laid" by the band James.

The audio version of Leavin' the Game on Luckie St. will be available on February 14th (love you) at the new website http://www.therecordbusinessisfucked.com/ (see more about this fun site below) and will mark his first ever independently released title. Fans will be able to download the 24 songs FREE (party time!) for one week (with a higher quality version available at http://www.therecordbusinessisfucked.com/ as well for $5.99 if you want to get all fancy J). The DVD was captured with 12 cameras and can be found online or at various indie retail stores in a few weeks (support them!) or at the online store on http://www.butchwalker.com/.

"The show's vibe was pegging in the red on the vibe-o-meter that night, and you can clearly
hear the special connection that I have with my hometown on this release," Butch ensures.

Butch explains his break from the label system and his new website, "Basically, the record business is fucked, but not for bands. It's the most exciting, positive time for music, as rock and roll and indie pop have gone completely back underground. It's exciting, and to see artists be able to release albums whenever they want, for whatever they want, and not have to fear sending in their cover art, only to have the art department airbrush off the singer's mustache (in fear of not selling to a certain demographic or fucking statistic) is wonderful. Essentially, everything they have or haven't done in the past, I will purposely do the opposite... And probably make my first paycheck. Viva la freedom from cubicle music!"

Butch is also announcing another project called 1969 that he's partnering with guitarist Michael Guy Chislett from The Academy Is…and drummer Darren Dodd from the Let's Go Out Tonites. 1969 will be released on April 1st (April Fools Day – another holiday!) online but fans can keep their mouths watering by submitting their designs for the official album artwork at http://www.friendsorenemies.com/.

"We did this cool recording of songs a long time ago, but got distracted, so we never released it but are now. It is such a cool record, unlike anything I have ever personally been a part of (partly because all of the music was penned by the other guys, not me.. I wrote the lyrics and played bass and sang). It comes from a different place. So it's sort of like a little holiday present for me to hear, because it's not something I would normally write myself, but definitely something I would buy and love," Butch adds.

Last but certainly not least, Butch will release his brand new solo album Sycamore Meadows that features the track "Ships in a Bottle" this summer. To accompany the song, Butch enlisted director Cloud to film a video documenting the area where his house in Malibu, CA once stood before it was burned down from the fires that devastated the area this past November.

Butch adds about his inspiration for the new material, "I lost everything I've ever owned in the fire. Every master of every song I've ever recorded, every piece of recording equipment, guitars, drums and things I've collected over the years, cars, motorcycles, every family memorial, heirloom, picture and document we ever had. ... Gone. I feel like I finally know the difference between 'going back' and 'going home.' "

Hello Kala,
I checked the site out and same problem. Maybe it's because the 'Net is sooo busy today. I suggest trying later or tomorrow. You can also visit www.myspace.com/butchwalker
or surf the Web for a bunch of other sites for him.
Good luck!

when you click "download" save the album to your desktop...next keep the window open (it's a must in order to download the album). on the bottom left you'll see "transferring from musicane.com..." It will end up on your desktop within a few minutes depending on how fast your internet connection is.
