Indie rock band Fiancé is slated to officially release their sophomore EP, “Please, Ambitious, Please” on March 18, 2008. Fiancé will debut “Please, Ambitious, Please” at their album release show on March 22, 2008 at The Falcon in Englewood, Colorado.
The four men who make up Fiancé have come together to create an infectious and unique sound influenced by British pop, indie rock, and classical composition, skillfully showcased throughout this five-track album.
Since the fall of 2006, Fiancé has been winning over audiences across the Rocky Mountain region with their unique style of rock ‘n’ roll. Although Fiancé creates a dynamic sonic landscape that is both emotional and exciting, it is in their honest songwriting that Fiancé truly hooks listeners. From complex character sketches to haunting accounts of contemporary suburban life, principal songwriter and lead vocalist, Patrick McGuire’s understated lyricism carries a power akin to that of storytelling greats Elliott Smith and David Bazan. This potent songwriting, that draws comparisons to the likes of Radiohead, Ben Folds, and even the Beach Boys, combined with intricate arrangements and evocative vocal harmonies, creates a genuinely moving experience for listeners.
McGuire shares, “"We spent a lot of long days and nights working extremely hard on this EP and we are very proud of it. We actually did a lot of experimenting during the recording of this EP. Everything from rubbing our hands on a wall and recording it, to unique vocal harmonies, to having 12 year old kids come in and play flute and trumpet on a song. They all add to the overall mood we were going for. But, the core of the EP is really in the complexity of the characters and in their stories of modern, suburban, American life. In my opinion, the highlights of the EP are the darker, more intense songs like Twenty-Something that really emphasize the struggle and beauty of the characters.”
In addition to releasing “Please, Ambitious, Please,” Fiancé will be touring several states around Colorado, including shows in their hometown, Denver. Fiancé has already seen success in their home base, including a nomination for “best local band in Denver,” and having their music spun on numerous radio stations including Denver’s 93.3 FM KTCL.
Fiancé consists of: Patrick McGuire (keys, lead vocals), Michael James (guitars, vocals), Tyler Reschke (bass, vocals), and Chris Sturniolo (drums, vocals).
