Two Pasadena fire engines to be dedicated

The community is invited to ceremonies Saturday, March 6, at two Pasadena fire stations where new fire engines will be dedicated.

During the free events – noon at Fire Station 38, 1150 E. Linda Vista Ave., and 2 p.m. at Fire Station 39, 50 Ave. 64 – visitors will get a close look at the newest additions to Pasadena’s fleet of fire engines. Pasadena City Councilman Steve Madison, Fire Chief Dennis Downs, firefighters and other personnel will welcome the community to the stations, where refreshments will be served. Street parking is available.

Fire engines have typical life spans of 15 years or 100,000 miles. The new fire engines replaced two units with more than 150,000 miles each.

The new fire engines meet National Fire Protection Association standards for firefighter safety, including larger pump capacity for better delivery in hillside areas; better turning radius for narrow streets; built-in foam systems for structure protection during wildland fires; greater storage capacity for emergency medical supplies; enclosed cabs for firefighter safety; and new emission standards to meet air quality goals.
