Sixth Street Burlesque in San Pedro Sept. 17 and 18

The Relevant Stage, San Pedro’s musical theatre company presents “Sixth Street Burlesque – A Return To 1941” September 17 and 18, 8:00 p.m. at the Warner Grand Theatre, 478 West Sixth Street.

The evening is set in 1941 amid WWII and the third inauguration of Franklin Delano Roosevelt. A group of burlesque performers come together in San Pedro to throw a “BurleyQue” to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the Warner Bros. Theater (now the Warner Grand Theatre).

Tap dancer, comedian and impersonator Fred Crawford, well-known throughout the area for his many years as a featured performer at San Pedro’s famous Papadakis Taverna, leads the evening. Lively entertainment includes Jazz performed by the Relevant Jazz Trio, comedy sketches of the period and classic, titillating burlesque performances by Miss Sass A Frass, Jessabelle Thunder and Betsey Bosen. The evening is produced and directed by Ray Buffer, founder and producing director of The Relevant Stage.

Come dressed in 1941 or earlier garb and get a free raffle ticket for great prizes! Only 18 & over will be admitted (must show ID) due to adult humor and partial nudity. Beer and wine are available at concessions staffed by Sacred Grounds Café.

The Relevant Stage is the non-profit, resident musical theatre company at San Pedro’s historic Warner Grand Theatre. The company is currently producing its third season.
