Thelonious Dub to present "Dark Side of the Moon" In SoCal in October

LA New-Groove jazz quartet Thelonious Dub joins forces with Los Angeles singer/rock icon Paul Black (L.A. Guns, Black Cherry, Mau-Muas) and pianist Stephen Lockwood to present 9 special Halloween season live performances in 5 venues of the Pink Floyd classic album, Dark Side of the Moon. Joining Thelonious Dub, Black and Lockwood are singer Lindsay Hough and trumpeter Philip Fiorio.

Thelonious Dub began in Los Angeles by playing reggae versions of Thelonious Monk tunes. Gaining in popularity, the quartet’s original compositions have become more popular with their audience and are captured on their 2010 release Master Plan B.

Inspired by Dub Side Of The Moon from The Easy Star All Stars, Thelonious Dub Side Of The Moon delves further by adding jazz to the reggae/dub/rock mix. The group is pleased to present their vision of Dark Side Of The Moon for audiences looking for unique happenings around Halloween.

Thelonious Dub recruited top L.A. singers and musicians, filling out the sound and creating harmonically rich psychedelic layers in keeping with the Pink Floyd concept. The addition of deep reggae dub grooves makes the show a dance party - essential for the club experience.

The group is planning on releasing a promotional video this month, giving audiences a preview of what to expect.

Formed in 2007, Guitarist Joe Bartone was the leader of the Boston band - Fat Buddah before coming to Los Angeles and meeting Mandorico’s drummer Sean Rainey. Soon afterwards they joined up with tenor and synth player “Space Kyle” O’Donell and Brandon Schmidt, upright bassist for Chord Four. Together they formulated a chemistry; nurturing ideas to flow freely among them.

They are currently the Friday Night house band at the West Lounge, in the Penthouse of the Hotel Angeleno in Brentwood. Their album Master Plan B was written produced by Joe Bartone and recorded by Paul Du Gre’ (L7, Weezer, Bill Frisell, Leo Kottke). Thelonious Dub incorporate synths, delays, deep bass and hypnotic rhythms in their jazz music. Paul Du’ Gre also engineered their first, self-titled release - a collection of jazz standards interpreted as reggae instrumentals.
