Universal CityWalk summer concert series kicks off June 8

Universal CityWalk’s® “5 Towers” state-of-the art concert venue announces the kickoff to its summer lineup with non-stop live entertainment every weekend through Labor Day featuring music and entertainment’s top emerging talent, LA’s hottest club and radio DJs, next-generation dance crews, and chart-topping recording artists. Confirmed to make a special appearance, Hollywood’s most noted gossip columnist and TV personality, PEREZ HILTON, will introduce A&M/Octone Recording Artist KAT GRAHAM from the hit series, “The Vampire Diaries,” to perform her hit single, ‘Put Your Graffiti On Me’ and other tracks from her new EP this Friday, June 8 at 8pm, at the “5 Towers” concert venue.

It will be a blast!” said Perez Hilton, who is championing Kat’s rising star power to the top of the charts and beyond. Kat’s performance will be preceded by a specially produced high-energy showcase set to sample the summer entertainment to be programmed at the “5 Towers” including dueling DJ battles, dance crews stepping and beat thumping to the latest mash-ups of Hip Hop, Top 40 and classic jams synched to a pulsing, rhythm-catching light show, live vocal performances and more.

Universal CityWalk features free, street entertainment every night of the week spotlighting L.A.’s best musicians, guitarists, pianists, and percussionists – many who have performed concerts throughout the world and have been featured on television. This summer, live street entertainment is anchored by themed lineups at “5 Towers” every Friday, Saturday and Sunday with a diverse and eclectic offering of music and artists. Upcoming performances set to heat up the “5 Towers” this summer are as follows:



· Spotlight Fridays ramp up the weekend with live vocal performances from breakout reality television stars including American Idol season 10 finalist James Durbin and The Voice first season alum, Vicci Martinez. Established and wildly popular recording artists DEV, from the Far East Movement’s ‘Like a G6’ and R&B singer/rapper/actor, TYRESE, are sure to deliver electrifying performances.

· Spin Saturdays keep the tempo moving with dueling DJ battles in a turn-table spin-off with beat-catching DJ dance parties rallied by dance crews to keep the crowd jumping. Set to make a debut on the “5 Towers” stage Saturday, June 9, is DJ ROONIE G, revered for mixing his music with iconic film footage, custom graphics and comedy shorts; and has opened for Diddy, Wycleaf Jean, Kid Rock and various others. July’s DJ lineup scorches with a special guest DJ performance by “one of the most sought after DJs in North America,” DJ Spryte, set to rock the stage with his turntable skills.

· Retro Cover Bands and Latin Sundays are complemented with the highly anticipated Telemundo/mun2 Descarga concert series, entering in its sixth year of phenomenal success at Universal CityWalk breaking emerging artists in the regional Mexican, urban, pop and alternative music categories. The retro cover band lineups strike a nostalgic beat with an impressive lineup that will spotlight the SPAZMATICS’ ultimate New Wave 80s show; a cappella groups THE BACKBEATS and PENTATONIX from the The Sing-Off; and METALACHI, the first and only heavy metal mariachi band and must-see to believe musical act.
