The Grammy-nominated Kim Richmond Concert Jazz Orchestra in Concert to celebrate the release of their Latest CD Artistry, a Tribute to Legendary Big Band Leader Stan Kenton.
Led by saxophone soloist Kim Richmond, the 23-piece orchestra, features expansive instrumentation that includes five woodwinds, four trumpets, three tenor trombones, two French horns, Latin percussion and more. The evening of free-swinging improvisation pays homage to “Kentonesque” jazz and Latin-style compositions, the size and scope of the master’s kinetic orchestration, rightfully known to music historians as the original “Wall of Sound.”
