Get a look at presidential spin and propaganda

Conscientious Projector Screens War Made Easy: How Presidents & Pundits Keep Spinning Us to Death
Thursday, September 13

As presidential candidates stake out their positions on the continuing war in Iraq, the Media Education Foundation presents an in-depth examination of the spin methods and propaganda techniques employed by U.S. presidents over the past 50 years to sell war and militarism to the American public. Written and directed by Loretta Alper and Jeremy Earp and narrated by Sean Penn, the film also investigates the collusive role our national media have played in promoting a culture of war and legitimizing deceptive rationales for starting, then perpetuating, military conflicts in Iraq, Vietnam and elsewhere around the world. The respected media critic and syndicated columnist, Norman Solomon, author of the acclaimed book on which the movie is based, is featured. Katrina vanden Heuvel, Editor and publisher of The Nation, has described the documentary as "chilling and persuasive." The free screening begins at 7 p.m. at The Armory, located at 145 N. Raymond in Old Pasadena, and is accessible to disabled persons.

The Conscientious Projector documentary series is co-sponsored by All Saints Church's Sustainable World Ministry and the ImagineAction-theatre of the Oppressed in association with The Armory Center for the Arts.
