AG Weinberger, the Transylvanian Guitar Man himself, is celebrating the international release of his album Nashville Calling, and the immense fact it has been selected for no less than seven Grammy Awards – the very first Romania album to be nominated for the prestigious awards. The album is a special blend of rock, blues and soul, infused with the native sound and grooves of Weinberger's life in Romania. That is, the rich gypsy music of the Balkans. He says of his background: " I am very proud of my cultural heritage and identity… I was born Jewish, raised Hungarian, lived Romanian, but I work, think, dream and hope in English. This is a quiet of cocktail, isn't it? Well, I like to call myself a happy victim of globalization."

Weinberger was a latecomer to the music world. In 1984, at age 19, he came back from National Service to join the band Metropol, one of Romania's most successful rock bands. After five years of learning his trade and honing his abilities as a guitarist, he took the decision to devote himself to a solo career – and after years of trying, he is finally on the verge of breaking through on to the world stage. Before all this, one event in his childhood convinced the virtuoso guitarist of his career path. "At the age of ten, at the wakening after four days laying in coma due to a heavy form of meningitis, I knew exactly that I would be a guitar player. I've been dedicated every day of my life to this purpose ever since."

Raves

Weinberger's development has been aided by some excellent responses from the media:
"World class music, with a unique flavour." Las Vegas Review Journal

"An excellent and charismatic guitarist." Brian Spencer, Radio KUNV 91.5 FM, Las Vegas

"In his music there is honesty and a real passion." The Jonesboro Sun

Weinberger has, to top them all, been praised by the great B.B King. He has also worked with Son Seals, Laurie Bell, Pistol Pete, Chico Banks, Willie Kent and The Gents. What's more, Nashville Calling was produced by Tom Hambridge, whose work extends to Lynyrd Skynyrd, Johnny Winter and Bonnie Raitt. The album is available on CDBaby.com, Amazon.com, IndieRhythm.com, iTunes, Napster and so forth.
