Thirty years and 60 million albums ago, a five-member Latin boy group named Menudo made its impact on the world. Following a nationwide search, which was documented on the MTV show “Making Menudo,” five talented teens have been selected to carry forth the Menudo torch.
The new members Chris, Jose, Emmanuel, Monti and Carlos just completed a series of dates with the Jonas Brothers and will now embark on the Bandemonium tour, a new touring brand established by Johnny Wright, acclaimed manager of *NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, Justin Timberlake, Janet Jackson, the Jonas Brothers, Britney Spears and many others. The 16-date tour will include performances from four of pop music’s latest boybands: Menudo (Epic), NLT (Geffen), V-Factory (Warner Bros) and GLOWB (Rich Music/Konvict).
Menudo’s debut album will be released by Epic Records this August and their first single hits later this month. The original Menudo, which became a major sensation throughout the United States and Latin American in the seventies and eighties, cut 35 albums, sold over 60 million records and broke box-office ticket sales the world over. To this day, the legendary boy group, which kicked off the careers of Ricky Martin and Robby Rosa, holds the world record for the largest crowd gathered for a live performance.
