The band is on the road supporting its second album, The Glass Passenger, which was co-produced by McMahon and Jim Wirt. The Glass Passenger is the follow-up to the band’s debut Everything in Transit. Both albums have been critically embraced and continue to garner endearing and enduring adoration from fans and musical peers around the globe due to McMahon’s gift of rare melodic sensibility and universal lyrical insights that have resonated so deeply and personally with his ever-expanding audience.
Jack’s Mannequin, which McMahon formed in 2004 with guitarist Bobby Anderson, bassist Jonathan Sullivan, and drummer Jay McMillan in Orange County, CA, has had a busy year. The Glass Passenger has spawned two singles, “The Resolution” (with an accompanying music video co-directed by Twilight author Stephenie Meyer) and “Swim,” which was heard in the promo spots for the new CBS drama Three Rivers.
This week, Sire Records releases Dear Jack — a DVD documentary shot by McMahon that chronicles his own personal fight against leukemia. The film will be available in-stores, on the Jack’s Mannequin website www.jacksmannequin.com and via digital download through iTunes beginning November 3rd. Also on the 3rd, the Dear Jack EP will be made available exclusively through iTunes. The EP features four previously unreleased tracks: “Dear Jack,” “Diane, the Skyscraper,” “There, There Katie,” and “Swim (Music Box).”
McMahon will join Stand Up To Cancer’s team of celebrity ambassadors which also include Mandy Moore, Kirsten Dunst, Patrick Wilson, Ethan Zohn, Marcia Cross and many more, beginning December 2009. The Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) initiative funds groundbreaking research aimed at getting new treatments to patients faster, and aims to rally the public around the fight against the disease.
