80’S STYLE & SOUND MEETS THE ROARING 30’s
WITH THE LOST FINGERS DEBUT ALBUM
LOST IN THE 80’s
Digital Release Now Set For November 10th
Band To Return For February 2010 U.S. Tour
A classic song is one that brings a listener back to an indelible place and time in one's life. Creative genius is frequently measured by an ability to offer something new within a world where the vast majority of composition is derivative. When the two collide new life can be resurrected from the soundtrack to lives past, as The Lost Fingers vibrantly prove on their upcoming debut album, Lost In The 80’s, in a manner that oozes fun.
The Canadian trio delivers a raucous rollercoaster of new memoires from hits that define the musical highpoints of the Eighties – in a unique, original and simply unforgettable performance. The Lost Fingers captivate audiences everywhere they go with their witty and jazzed-up renditions of nostalgic hits by the likes of AC/DC, Stevie Wonder, Technotronic, Bon Jovi, Michael Jackson, George Michael, Samantha Fox, and Céline Dion.
After scoring a massive hit with the album in their native country and being crowned the undisputed new stars of the Montreal Jazz festival, The Lost Fingers new album will finally be available digitally beginning on November 10th 2009 (Tandem.mu/SIN).
Lost In The 80’s has already achieved platinum+ status in Canada (over 130,000 units), and the band was nominated for two Juno Awards this year. They continue to charm and conquer territories beyond its borders with their tremendously fun live show.
Taking their name from legendary gypsy-jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt who suffered from a horrific, accidental caravan fire that resulted in the loss of use of both the 3rd and 4th fingers of his left hand, The Lost Fingers perform these 80’s songs in a style that would have fit in perfectly with the hot jazz bands of the 30’s.
Upon meeting at the Quebec Conservatory of Music in 1994, Byron Mikaloff and Christian Roberge, quickly became friends who would continue to collaborate on several music projects. After several years of playing as a musical duo, the two friends founded The Lost Fingers in 2004. In an attempt to further develop and continuously innovate, they summoned the young and talented Alex Morissette (bassist) in 2006 to “jazz up their swing.” By exercising great musicianship along with a keen sense of humor, the trio unanimously decided to unite their unique voices to create an ingenious tribute to the 80’s in the swinging gypsy style of ‘jazz manouche’.
On top of the digital release, fans will also be able to purchase ringtones for four tracks from the album: “Pump Up The Jam,” “You Give Love A Bad Name,” Billie Jean,” and “Joe Le Taxi.” The Lost Fingers are planning a full U.S. tour in support of Lost In The 80’s for February 2010. Details to follow soon.
