Who are Twin Tigers:
Hailing from the always fertile Athens, GA scene, Twin Tigers are ready to unleash their blend of psych-shoegaze-indie-pop to the universe. Influenced by many distinguished artists including the Velvet Underground, Beatles, U2, My Bloody Valentine, Liars, and countless others, Twin Tigers make a sound that is entirely their own and will keep you coming back for more.
Formed by co-workers at the Michael Stipe-owned Grit restaurant, guitarist/vocalist Matthew Rain and bassist Aimee Morris began dating and fell in love, and as their previous bands dissolved, Twin Tigers were born. The two soon realized that there was no way that they’d be able to make both the relationship and the band work, so even though they loved, needed and still had to see each other regularly, the two couldn’t romantically be together.
Twin Tigers released the Curious Faces Violet Future EP in February 2008 to great reviews. The band quickly started building a solid fanbase throughout the southeast and played shows with Les Savy Fav, Deerhunter, Dead Confederate, Black Lips, Dungen, Woods, Snowden and A Place to Bury Strangers. The band also made their first trip down to Austin for 2008's SXSW festival.
After a slew of revolving guitarists and drummers, drummer Doug Crump and guitarist Forrest Hall became permanent members of the band a few weeks before SXSW 2008. Upon returning from SXSW, the band began cutting their debut album. Recorded over the course of a month by Joel Hatstat in Athens, GA’s legendary Bakery Studio (Maserati, Dark Meat, Jucifer, more), Twin Tigers’ debut album Gray Waves is the story of a love lost, but not forgotten and it will be unleashed via Brooklyn based Old Flame Records in January 2010.
