2010 Sub City Take Action Tour kicks off today

The 2010 Sub City Take Action Tour, presented by Hot Topic, kicks off today in Atlanta, GA! The 2010 lineup features We The Kings, Mayday Parade, A Rocket To The Moon, There For Tomorrow, Call The Cops, and Stereo Skyline. The annual nationwide charity tour, now in its ninth year, raises funds and awareness for youth involvement in charitable action.

In an effort to make a difference throughout the Take Action Tour, Sub City along with DoSomething.org and Driving For Donors have organized a series of charity events that allow bands to participate in local communities and take action. The bands will be visiting children's hospitals in Seattle, Salt Lake City, Denver, and Texas for special meet & greets with patients, as well as an acoustic performance to brighten their day.

In addition to off-site charity events throughout the tour, We The Kings, Mayday Parade, A Rocket To The Moon, There For Tomorrow, Call The Cops, and Stereo Skyline will be making special signing appearances at select Hot Topic stores. Dates can be found below.

To celebrate the kick-off of the tour, our friends over at Music Skins have graciously offered to donate 5% of gross sales from their website on January 26 to the Take Action cause, to help further the message of taking action! Visit musicskins.com today to get your Take Action skins and many more!

The charity spotlighted for Take Action in 2010 is Driving For Donors, the brainchild of now 14-year-old Patrick Pedraja who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at age 10. In 2007, at age 11, Patrick and his family started Driving For Donors and traveled around the country in a special “Donormobile” with the mission of signing people up for the National Marrow Registry to help find bone marrow matches for people in need of a transplant. Since then they have added over 22,000 donors to the registry and saved more than 24 people’s lives with matches. Sub City has raised millions of dollars and awareness for various charitable organizations that aim to make the world a better place and 5% of the suggested retail price for each Take Action Volume 9 set sold will be donated to further this cause.

10% of the cost of each ticket sold is donated to further Patrick's mission making each person attending the Take Action Tour an active participant in making the world a better place. In addition, Take Action is offering fans an opportunity to personally help save a life with onsite registration for the National Marrow Registry available at every tour stop. Registration is simple and only requires the donor to be between the ages of 18 and 61, have a desire to help save a life, and have time for a quick cheek swab and simple paperwork. Registering is much easier than most people think and information about the entire process can be found at BeTheMatch.org.

Those that register will be given an exclusive Take Action Tour bracelet at the show! Those under 18 will have plenty of ways to support the cause as well, including buying a copy of the compilation or simply by texting! Fans can text "ACTION" to 85944 to donate directly to supporting this years cause! Those that text to give will also receive an exclusive Take Action bracelet, by visiting the Take Action merch booth at the show. Learn more about this years cause at each show or by visiting drivingfordonors.com.

The highly anticipated Take Action Volume 9 charity compilation is currently available via pre-sale at takeactiontour.com. For $6 fans can pre-order the 2CD set and for $12 they will also receive, in addition to the two disc set, a special Take Action shirt. The tour compilation will be available at shows and in stores February 9, and will include exclusive songs, acoustics, and remix tracks from We The Kings, Mayday Parade, 30H!3, Cobra Starship, Taking Back Sunday, There For Tomorrow, Frank Turner, The Friday Night Boys, Anarbor, and Hit The Lights, among others.

Take Action thanks, our many great sponsors of the tour. Presenting sponsor Hot Topic has worked with the Take Action Tour since the tour's inception in 1999 and their commitment to helping make a positive impact continues to be as strong in 2010 as it has ever been. The music lifestyle mall retailer (hottopic.com) is a natural fit as a presenter, because they demonstrate a passion for music in everything they do. Expect to find the Take Action Compilation Volume 9 in your local Hot Topic store. Also generously supporting the 2010 tour is MySpace Music, Alternative Press Magazine, Absolutepunk.net, Touch Tunes, Go Merch, Hopeless Records, S-Curve Records, Atlantic Records, Fueled By Ramen Records, and MySpace Records.

To date, Sub City, a registered 501c3 organization, has raised nearly $2 million for various charitable organizations; much of that a result of Take Action, driving home the fact that we can all help bring forth change and that making a difference can be as fun and easy as buying a CD or concert ticket.
