Real Medicine Foundation (RMF) is a global humanitarian organization providing medical, emotional, social and economic support to those living amidst disasters and poverty. RMF is focused on both the tactical and the strategic. It provides immediate disaster relief, and then stays in the country to help build sustainable communities. Their operating expenses are very low, and consequently, 92 cents of every dollar donated to RMF in 2009 went straight to the disaster relief efforts and not to administrative overhead.

Now, Real Medicine reaches more than 1.5 million people in 14 countries, including the US. Haiti is being added to that list.

HAITI:
Currently, Real Medicine's team is in Jimaní on the border between Haiti and the Dominican Republic. They have identified two hospitals which their doctors and nurses are able to work out of. Jimaní is the border town most overwhelmed by severely injured Haitians seeking medical help. Severely injured patients are arriving in containers, often 30-40 persons in one container, many of them requiring amputations. Immediate and ongoing support for RMF will be needed.

Real Medicine is coordinating an immediate disaster relief response to aid the people of Haiti as well as preparing a long-term strategy to support their recovery from this devastating series of earthquakes.
