Shimmy Showcase Sunday

January 24: Share your stories of how the torrential rains this week affected you (mine is going 36 hours without electricity!) with the friendly folks at I-Candy Coffee while enjoying a great Shimmyshowcase as coordinator Abraiha presents guest dancers May, Ana, Constance, Akiko, and Nazi from Dance Garden.

Everyone is invited to this cozy haven for a relaxing evening among friends. Select your favorite beverage, hot or cold, from an assortment of coffees, teas, smoothies or juice; add to that a tasty sandwich or pastry; and then seat yourself alongside our magic carpet to enjoy some really great dancing at NO cover charge! February 7th - Xandra welcomes Jamali Bellydance Trio and Delilah back for another performance at this Shimmyshowcase and introduces Farhana Masri, dancing her polished Egyptian-style on I-Candy’s magic carpet. We can accommodate one more dancer, so If you would like to perform, please contact us at Shimmyshowcase@yahoogroups.com.

February 14 – Ever-creative coordinator Savia takes a different twist on the common Valentine’s Day images with “Love Stinks!” We already have IrinaXara and Arealeah onboard for this intriguing theme and would love to have other dancers express their interpretation on this evening traditionally identified with love. February 21 Alexiis celebrates her birthday with “Off the Beaten Path: An Evening of ATS Sisterhood.” For those of you who might be wondering, ATS is shorthand for American Tribal Style, and for this special night Alexiis has a tribal-packed evening planned with no less than four troupes—LA Tribal, Tribe of Astarte, Twisted Gypsy, and Azuluna plus Shanti performing! Be sure to mark your calendars and join us as I-Candy Coffee goes tribal.


February 28 - Saviya is your coordinator for this showcase, and she seeks dancers who would like to perform. Please reply to this email or contact us at Shimmyshowcase@yahoogroups.com if you’d like to dance for this showcase!

Since street parking around I-Candy Coffee is scarce, we recommend you try the perimeter of Bixby park located two blocks west of I-Candy Coffee at Broadway and Cherry. Please try to arrive before 7:00 PM (earlier if you’re a performer!) as we try not to start the show until everyone has settled with a tasty beverage.
