Weatherbox on tour

San Diego indie rockers WEATHERBOX have announced a seven-week trek that kicks off on February 4th in Upland, CA and wraps in the band’s hometown of San Diego on March 25th, and includes a set at the Harvest of Hope Festival on March 13th. Touring in support of the band’s sophomore LP, The Cosmic Drama (Sept. 2009, Doghouse Records), the group will also be carrying the newly recorded Christpuncher 7” on the road, which will also be available on iTunes shortly (see all tour dates below).

“Touring is always exciting, but something about this one has me pretty giddy,” says Weatherbox founding member, vocalist/guitarist Brian Warren. “Possibly because of it's ridiculous length, possibly because of the Harvest of Hope Fest, or just the fact that the new band slays old ‘Box songs with dull knives. But most likely because I'm excited about playing new Weatherbox songs for old fans. Either way, it shall be one for the books, that’s for sure.”

Recorded and engineered by veteran San Diego producer Ben Moore (Rocket From The Crypt, Hot Snakes, The Night Marchers, The Soft Pack), Christpuncher features two new songs - “The Bullets” on Side A, which the band will shoot a video for shortly, and “Broken Glowsticks” on Side B, which will appear on the band’s next full length. The 7” also features new band members Landon Hedges (Little Brazil, Desaparecidos), Drew Bent (Innerlimit), and Andrew Lucia (Life Deposits) joining Warren.

“Writing new songs with the dudes I play with now has been so amazing that I just wanted to get this material out as soon as possible,” admits Warren. “The Cosmic Drama was extremely rewarding personally because I wrote and produced it all myself after losing a band. Having a band that I can collaborate with is something I've lacked since before our debut American Art was recorded.”

Having toured with former label mates Say Anything, Manchester Orchestra, Little Brazil, and The Honorary Title, to name a few, Weatherbox fans can expect to hear old 'Box songs made over, along with a few new tunes. After wrapping this tour, Warren and his dedicated 'Boxers will bunker down in San Diego to record The Cosmic Drama’s follow up, tentatively titled The Compass.
