Talk on LA and its Mexican past in Arcadia Nov. 3

William Deverell, Ph.D. will present
“Whitewashed Adobe: The Rise of Los Angeles and the Remaking of its Mexican Past”

Professor William Deverell will speak on “Whitewashed Adobe: The Rise of Los Angeles and the Remaking of its Mexican Past” at the Arcadia Library at 10:15 a.m., Wednesday, November 3. This is the title of his most recent book which examines the historical relationship between the growth of Los Angeles and Southern California’s complex history of racial and ethnic conflict and accommodation.

Deverell is Director of the Huntington-USC Institute on California and the West and Professor of History at USC and the author of numerous studies on 19th and 20th Century American West.
