Guitar Center To Scour The Nation Searching For The Next Great Undiscovered Drummer

WHO: Stephen Perkins of Jane’s Addiction, Snoop Dogg’s drummer Trevor Laurence, Roy Mayorga of Stone Sour, and Drum-Off 2007 competitors: Daren Pfeifer, 31 of Culver City, CA; Margis Miles, 16 of Compton, CA; Jeff Hall, 19 of Phoenix, AZ; Andy Senesi, 34 of Los Angeles, CA; Mitchell Wilcox, 22 of Berkley, CA; Paul Stoot, 17 of Everett, WA; and Dennis Dove, 30 of Portland, OR.

WHAT: Drum-Off 2007 Regional Finals
After three rounds of intense competition, seven drummers have advanced on to compete at the Drum-Off regional finals, in Hollywood, CA. Judged on originality, skills/technique, style, stage presence and overall performance, each drummer will have five-minutes to impress the judges in the hopes of being the one finalist from Hollywood to join three others from across the country at the Drum-Off Grand Finals in Los Angeles, CA on January 5, where the Drum-Off Champion will be announced.

WHEN: Wednesday, November 14, 2007
6:30 p.m.

COMMENTS: This year’s Drum-Off winner will receive a prize package valued at more than $45,000 including a Toyota FJ Cruiser, $10,000 cash, a feature in a Guitar Center ad campaign, a $2,500 Levi’s shopping spree, a custom designed drum kit from DW, Pearl, Tama or Gretsch, a Roland TD20 electronic drum-set, a set of cymbals custom printed with the winner’s signature, a one year drum, cymbal, stick and head endorsement deal, and a write up in Modern Drummer magazine. Additionally, store, district and regional winners will walk away with thousands of dollars in prizes from Drum-Off partners. Partners for Drum-Off 2007 include: Levi’s, DW, Evans, Vic Firth, Remo, Zildjian, Pearl, Roland, Sabian, Tama, Gretsch, Pro∙Mark, and Modern Drummer.

I'm sorry to hear that, whether it's a fact or your opinion. The contest is supposed to give drummers an opportunity to showcase their often-overlooked talents. I hope someone does well this time around.
