HGTV to launch new design shows

NEW HGTV SERIES - JANUARY 2010

THE OUTDOOR ROOM WITH JAMIE DURIE
(Premieres Friday, January 1, 2010 at 10 pm ET/PT; airs in its regular time slot starting Saturday, January 2 at 9:00 pm ET/PT)
This stand-alone half hour makeover show is hosted by popular Aussie landscape expert and author Jamie Durie, who transforms one lucky homeowner's uninspired backyard into a spectacular and sophisticated outdoor room using the world's most amazing gardens and architectural elements as his inspiration.

THE ANTONIO TREATMENT
(SNEAK PEEK on Friday, January 1 at 10:30 pm ET/PT; Regular series is slated for March 2010)
In his brand-new series The Antonio Treatment, the bad boy of interior design and 2009's HGTV Design Star winner brings his unabashed personality and rock n' roll infused perspective to spaces that are in desperate need of stylistic salvation. Catering to clients who are often characters in their own right, each episode finds Antonio pushing the limits of contemporary design by employing the talents of a variety of eclectic craftsmen, ranging from downtown graffiti artists to eccentric glass blowers and metal workers, who will help bring his groundbreaking visions to life. Together with this band of unorthodox artisans, Antonio will perform drastic image overhauls a plethora of interesting locations from musician's private lairs to Hollywood hotels with a few suburban disasters thrown in for good measure.

CURB APPEAL: THE BLOCK

HGTV's Curb Appeal is back and going to Atlanta to help beautify homes on the same block with a variety of makeovers! In each episode of Curb Appeal: The Block, designer John Gidding, contractor Chip Wade, and project manager Kimberly Lacy completely overhaul one home's exterior with a makeover so dramatic it is no longer considered the neighborhood eyesore, but the envy of the block! Next, they make their way up and down the street to repaint front doors, add window boxes and provide smaller-scale makeovers that create instant impact and increase the value of the entire block!

FIRST TIME DESIGN
(Premieres Friday, January 1, at 3 and 3:30 pm ET/PT; airs in its regular time slot starting Saturday, January 2 at 8:30 pm ET/PT)
First Time Design offers enthusiastic viewers the opportunity to bring their design vision to life for a real client. In each episode of the new weekly series, one lucky amateur will have the opportunity to tackle the redesign of a real homeowner's room to the best of his or her ability. Along the way, a popular HGTV designer, such as Vern Yip, David Bromstad, and Lisa LaPorta, will offer professional advice to each HGTV fan as he or she deals with client demands, time management and budget constraints. While the HGTV experts will be on hand for moral support and guidance, the decisions will be left to the design fans, who will take all the credit -- or the blame.

DESIGN INTERNS
(Premieres Friday, January 1 at 4:00 pm ET/PT; airs in its regular time slot starting Saturday, January 2 at 10:00 pm ET/PT in its weekly time slot)
Design Interns gives 12 recent interior design graduates the chance to compete for a coveted year-long internship at a renowned interior design firm in Toronto, Canada. Every episode of HGTV's new reality competition series not only will present a design-based challenge that contestants will have to win to stay in the game, but also will grant viewers an all access pass into the world of a powerhouse design firm. While challenges focus on real projects for real clients, each candidate will have to prove their worth at the firm in order to jumpstart their career in the real world of design.
