Ink'd Chronicles to feature art exhibit by Wesslee Smith Dec. 10

Wesslee Smith, 17, of Duarte, will be the featured artist at Ink'd Chronicles monthly art show on Saturday, December 10. Ink'd Chronicles is located in the Pomona Arts Colony at 264 W. 2nd Street and the art show will be held in conjunction with the 2nd Saturday Art Walk.

Smith and his art came to the attention of Terry Dipple, owner of Ink'd Chronicles, when he read a story about the artist in the newspaper, last month. Dipple was impressed with Smith's art and contacted him about doing an art show at Ink'd Chronicles.

Dipple said it was the quality of Smith's art, not his physical condition that moved him to approach Smith and his family about doing the art show. Smith was born with arthrogryposis, a rare congenital disease, which affects only his limbs. Without complete use of his hands, Smith is forced to draw by holding a pencil in his mouth. But what some would call a disability, Smith considers a gift.

Smith's original work along with prints of selected work will be available for sale. The opening reception will be held Saturday, December 10, 6:00-10:00 pm. The show will run until December 30. Ink'd Chronicles does not take a commission on art sold, so all proceeds from art sales will go to Smith.
