Descanso Gardens' Japanese Garden Festival Nov. 3-4

An autumn tradition, the Japanese Garden Festival returns to Descanso Gardens on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 3-4. The weekend celebrates Japanese arts, crafts and culture with activities for the whole family. Activities are free with admission, unless noted.

Ikebana Display
Both days 
| 9 a.m.-5 p.m. | Minka 
Ikebana, the art of flower arranging, is perhaps the most famed and actively practiced of Japan's traditional arts. The Sogetsu School of Ikebana promotes a contemporary and international understanding of this art form, and meditations on plant life are reflected in these arrangements on display for your inspiration.

Descanso Chrysanthemum Society Show
Both days | 9 am-4 pm | Van de Kamp & Maple
Celebrate the iconic flower of fall at the society's 80th annual show. Details:

Camellia Lounge
Both days | 11 am-3 pm | Japanese Garden
Patina will have distinctive Japanese cuisine, sake and beverages for sale.

Capital Performs

Both days | 11:30 am to 1:30 pm | Under the Oaks Theater
Enjoy contemporary Japanese music.
 
Taiko Drummers

Both days| 2:30pm | Under the Oaks Theater
Always a crowd-pleaser, the Taiko Drummers perform their feats of percussive magic.
