MTV Tr3's is the exclusive national television sponsor of the second leg of Maná’s highly lauded “Amar es Combatir Tour,” that kicks off August 28, it was announced today by Lucia Ballas-Traynor, SVP and general manager of MTV Tr3's. The partnership between the bilingual network for Latino youth and the rock en español pioneers includes extensive on-air promos, tour-related programming on the network’s signature shows, “Mi TRL,” and “TXTO” and on mtvr3's.com and URGE, visibility on MTV’s high definition 44-foot screen in Times Square, and prime positioning within the MTV Tr3's branded music area in 900 Wal-Mart locations. A national sweepstakes will give MTV Tr3's viewers the chance to win free VIP tickets and attend VIP meet and greet sessions with Maná.
Maná is one of the hottest Mexican rock bands of all time. The group has sold more than 19 million records worldwide and has 13 Billboard Awards, five Latin Grammy Awards, and three Grammy Awards; they have also received MTV Latin America’s Best Rock Artist, Best Music Video (“Labios Compartidos”) and Lifetime Achievement Awards. Over 12 million people in 32 countries attended their last worldwide tour making them Latin rock royalty. Maná, which means "good energy" in Polynesian, also devotes a lot of its time to humanitarian efforts through the band's Selva Negra foundation that focuses on raising ecological awareness worldwide.
In addition to on-air tour-related programming, MTV Tr3's will create a dedicated Maná tour page on mtvtr3s.com that will include artist videos, complete tour dates, tour photo gallery, and the VIP ticket fly-away contest for select concert dates. MTV Tr3's viewers will also have a chance shout-out their Maná-related messages during a dedicated episode of “TXTO,” the network’s highly popular interactive show, that will premiere on Monday, June 18th at 4 PM Eastern.
“Maná’s tour is one of the most important live events of the year for MTV Tr3's viewers,” said Lucia Ballas-Traynor, SVP and general manager of MTV Tr3's. “Our sponsorship of the ‘Amar es Combatir Tour” is one more way we’re letting our viewers know they can count on us to bring them the best in Latino entertainment experiences across all their favorite platforms, from TV to the web to live mega events.”
The “Amar es Combatir Tour” features songs from Maná’s recent album by the same name. The album offers 13 songs that, with a full and impeccable sound, respect the essence of the group but veers into new territory.
