47th Sierra Madre Art Fair May 16 and 17

The 47th Annual Sierra Madre Art Fair should be renamed the 47th Annual Sierra Madre Art EXCELLENT! Jewelry, Oil Paintings, Watercolors, Woodcarvings, Mixed Media, Glass, Photography, Pottery, Ceramics, Gourd Art and Lighting (or could it be lightning) are but a month away from taking center stage in Sierra Madre’s Memorial Park. Not to mention a terrific line up of talented musicians and a variety of ethnic food and drink

Mark Saturday, May 16, and Sunday, May 17, 2009, on your calendars. The Friends of the Sierra Madre Library will again transform this fair city into an art capital reminiscent of Florence, Rome, Paris or London. Our featured artist this year is photographer Kenny Tong.

Kenny can trace his enthusiasm for photography back to his early days in Hong Kong. He began his career in the Hong Kong film industry in the 1970’s. Today he shoots in Hollywood both for film and television. He will be among 100 artists putting their artistic best feet forward.

Jane Fuller, String Planet, Cow Bop, The Tom Corbett Band, Vin Fizz Flyer, the Joel Penner Trio, and Ann Luke will provide a delightful musical backdrop to this cornucopia of art certain to entrance all our senses. And for the kids, Creative Arts Group is bringing their “Under the Sea Seed and Bead Mosaic” project. Let us not forget we have the grand opportunity of bringing the Art Fair home with us…forever. Simply by adding artistic treasures to our private collections from our many world class artists.

Artists: Sales are high as our Fair is well known for its superior quality emphasizing fine arts and skilled craftsmanship. The number of entries in each category is limited so now is the time apply. Apply at http://sierramadrelibraryfriends.org. Or contact Sharon Murphy at (626) 355-3977.
