Catch Miranda Lee Richards in L.A. before she heads to Europe

Coming off a whirlwind of shows at SXSW in Austin, Texas, MIRANDA LEE RICHARDS has announced a European and U.K. headlining tour launching May 2 in Germany and wrapping with a pair of shows in London (May 18 and 20). Before heading overseas, the singer/songwriter/musician MIRANDA has confirmed a special Los Angeles performance Thursday, April 2 at Largo at the Coronet Theater supporting Tift Merritt.

Having recently released her new album LIGHT OF X (Nettwerk) to critical acclaim, MIRANDA was a featured performer on KCRW’s “Morning Becomes Eclectic” program in Los Angeles.

MIRANDA and her band--KIRK HELLIE (bass), RICK PARKER (guitars) and KEVIN STEVENS (drums) as well as BEN PEELER (pedal steel guitar) and JEN KUHN (cello)--performed such songs as “Life Boat,” “Early November” and “Savorin’ Your Smile.”

In other news, MIRANDA has been selected to be the face for Nine West’s Vintage America Collection for Fall 2009. The vintage inspired line will feature shoes, handbags and jewelry. MIRANDA’s campaign will appear exclusively in the United States, Mexico and Canada. Just before fashion week in New York, MIRANDA LEE RICHARDS and her full band will perform live at the Nine West Vintage America Collection launch party on September 9.

MIRANDA continues to receive strong praise for her music. In his review for Rolling Stone, writer Will Hermes noted that LIGHT OF X “evokes her Cali dream-pop heroes Mazzy Star, although Richards' music is airier and poppier--think of it as freak folk with just a schmear of freak. ‘Life Boat’ is a big, warm hug with dub effects, pedal steel and hash-den tambourine; ‘Mirror at the End’ sports a chorus big enough for Sheryl Crow. Delivered in a pure, unblemished voice, even the sad songs are comforting…”
