On the day of his simultaneous video premiere for “We Made You” on-air across MTV, MTV2, mtvU, MTV Jams, MTV Hits and MTV Tr3s channels, Eminem set a new record for music video streams via MTV.com with more than 758,000 views of his video in 24 hours. More than half of the video views happened across sites that utilized MTV.com’s embeddable player, including popular destinations such as People.com and Usmagazine.com.
April 7 also marked a 174-day high for music video streams at MTV.com, primarily driven by “We Made You.” The previous one-day record for video views was held by Britney Spears’ “Womanizer,” which had 661,000 streams on its first day, October 10, 2008, followed by Spears’ “Piece of Me,” with 489,000 streams on December 14, 2007.
