On April 5, Harry Cooper - better known as one half of the adorable nonagenarian blogging couple The OGs - celebrates his 97th birthday in Boyle Heights. It's been a long and incredible journey for Harry, from a tough childhood in Philadelphia where his mother died in the 1917 flu pandemic, to Army service in 1930s Hawaii where he was honored for saving a fellow soldier from roaring surf, to the tennis courts of Los Angeles where he met his bride of 73 years, Barbara and they became the discount shoe mavens of Beverly Boulevard.

Harry's humor and deep curiosity about the world around him had an abiding influence on his granddaughter Kim, co-founder of Esotouric bus adventures, and so in April Esotouric offers a special PopPop's Pals Promotion, to encourage the generations to come together on the Esotouric bus to explore the hidden nooks and crannies of Los Angeles. Harry and Barbara ride along on most tours, and just last week they had some fun with Pasadena Confidential co-host Crimebo the Clown. See the video at The OGs blog --http://www.the-ogs.com

For the entire month of April, any grandparent can ride the Esotouric bus for just $5 when attending with a regular price grandchild (teens and up), plus the grandchild will go home with a well-stocked pop culture goodie bag sure to bring hours of amusement.

Esotouric's April schedule is packed to the gills with a range of four Saturday bus adventures with cross-generational appeal and includes two rare West LA tours. On April 4 it's an especially grisly tour, WILD WILD WEST SIDE, packed with more child abusing mamas, mummified cult priestesses and murderous snake handlers than any other Esotouric bus adventure. For more info, see http://esotouric.com/wildWestSide

On April 11 we return to West LA for RAYMOND CHANDLER'S BAY CITY out along the coastal edge of noir. The mature Chandler cast his jaundiced eye over the crimes and sites of West Los Angeles, and we'll take you to some surprising sites of lost LA lore as we explore the writer and his work. See http://esotouric.com/chandlerbaycity

On April 18 join us for THE REAL BLACK DAHLIA tour, a provocative ramble through the world of women in post-war Los Angeles, from hardboiled crime reporters to teens on the make and much between. The tour schedule leaves time to take tea in the Biltmore Hotel lobby afterwards, and grandma can tell you over scones how she REALLY spent the 1940s. For info see http://esotouric.com/blackdahlia

On April 25 it's time for RAYMOND CHANDLER'S LOS ANGELES: IN A LONELY PLACE, a journey from the downtown of Chandler's pre-literary youth to the Hollywood of his greatest success, with a stop along the way at Tai Kim's Scoops for unexpected gelato creations inspired by the author. For info see http://esotouric.com/chandler
