Hornblower offering Earth Day Luncheon Cruise

As part of Hornblower’s continuing commitment to positively impact the environment and in celebration of Earth Month, Hornblower is offering an Earth Day Luncheon Cruise on Saturday, April 25, 2009!

This special Earth Day Cruise features a two hour tour around the harbor, carbon offset for each guest, a delicious organic luncheon buffet, a reusable grocery bag tote compliments of Whole Foods Market and a raffle for chances to win green products for your home. A portion of all the proceeds from this event will be donated to Heal the Bay and a spokesperson from that organization will be onboard to educate guests on marine life in the harbor.

The organic sustainable buffet was created by Hornblower’s Executive Chef, Kelly McGinnis. The menu features a Fresh Fruit Platter, Exotic Mixed Green and Heirloom Salad, California Basmati Rice, Brown Rice Pasta Tossed with Sautéed Peppers and Onions, Grilled Tilapia with a Red Curry Sauce, Garlic Herb Chicken Topped with a Roasted Pepper Salsa, Sautéed Carrots and Green Beans, Fresh Baked Rolls, and Pastries.

Hornblower’s Earth Day Cruise departs from Marina del Rey and Newport Beach. Boarding begins at 11:30 am and cruises from 12 pm – 2pm. Tickets are $65 per person. Reservations are required and may be made online at www.hornblower.com or by calling 800-ON-THE-BAY.

Through their corporate environmental outreach program, Respect Our Planet, Hornblower’s Greater Los Angeles port has implemented numerous strategies including; Partnering with CarbonFund.org and developing the industries’ first carbon offsetting option (this provides guests with carbon offsets to aid in the reforestation and research for new renewable energy), introducing the first carbon neutral “green” private yacht charter package with sustainable menu items, restroom modifications made to significantly reduce the amount of water used, paper-recycling program in the offices, and recycling bins for plastic and glass containers on all the yachts. Hornblower’s sister company, Alacatraz Cruises, designed and built the first ever multi-hull hybrid passenger vessel, located in San Francisco, California.

Now celebrating 30 years of excellence on the water, Hornblower has 32 charter yachts throughout California in Newport Beach, Marina Del Rey, Long Beach, San Francisco, and San Diego. Hornblower’s popular Newport Beach, Long Beach and Marina del Rey port offers private charters, Public Weekend Harbor Dinner Cruises, Sunday Champagne Brunch Cruises, and Summer Sunset Cocktail Cruises.
