I'm pretty sure it's not metalica or hatebreeds cover of slayers ghosts of war I'm big into these band and don't think that I have heard that riff in any of their songs it's sounds way more like mastodon style riffing I think but I'm not sure

Scott said...

Also, it is not Disposable Heroes by Metallica, that song is not even in the same tuning. Ah, this hurts not knowing what the song is.

Anonymous said...

mr swearer here again, I really think it's hatebreeds cover of ghost of war by slayer. I you tube'd it and it sounded very similar

Anonymous said...

mr swearer here again, yeah I think it's not hatebreeds cover, my bat.

chuck giles said...

yes it is, i know it is, i listened to it right b4 i posted my last comment, and also all thats in my fight playlist is metallica from the first demo songs to unherd songs to tracks from overseas to death magnetic, i have them all its disposable heroes, after that part it goes into more heavy guitar and then back into the hook and course to the end of the song its at about 3:30 to 3 min, and i remember it cause theres a girl in the commercial that they show with a camo hat on moving her head in a such a swag way that i started doin it whenever they get to that part in the song, and i do it when i see the commercial

im listening to the song right now its starts at 4mins and 06 seconds into the song, and then it goes into "{Why, Am I dying? Kill, have no fear, Lie, live off lying, Hell, Hell is here}" once and then theres a guitar solo, and then it goes into it "{Why, Am I dying? Kill, have no fear, Lie, live off lying, Hell, Hell is here}" and at 5min and 24 seconds it goes back into the piece thats in the commercial in the commercial they take the solo and chant out i know this for a fact listen to the song yourself it is in the same tune and everything im a metallica fan to death

Mickie said...

chuck u need to understand something, there no possible way that they are the same songs since the one in the commercial is played in a completely different tuning than metallica. If you had any clue of what you were talking about you would know this. how bout you just stick to fighting and let people who know what they are talking about deal with guitars. Some one will eventually tab the commercial out and realized what song it really is. I cant because the springs in my guitar are shot and i have no money for new ones. My best bet as to who might have written this would be lamb of god or mastodon definitely not metallica. Or it could always be the case that mtv got some people to write a sick riff and thus it could actually not even be a song.

chuck giles said...

actually, my anonymous friend i listen to metallica enough to know that when mtv did the commercial and and used the metallica sample where they cut out the singing and started the riff again the did it wrong to where theres a double hit from the drum, in between that double hit is susposed to be where they sing, u think i dont know about guitars and all that but i took guitar lessons since 5th grade, stick to being anonymous and get ur guitar fixed maybe u can learn something, its disposable heros, y dont u go be one of the people that dont buy music, download the song from limewire like always and listen to the song, dont insult me unless u actually know facts about me,

dean said...

hey chuck,
i have most of all metallica's albums. i re-listened to the song disposable heroes and sorry to say the tuning is different. it sounds nothing like the riff in the commercial. i suggest we keep looking and stop arguing, its silly. more than likely it has similarities with the riff, more than likely a different band who did a re-make.

Scott said...

Coming from someone who has seen Metallica and been listening to Metallica for over 18 years, this is not Disposable Heroes by Metallica. As stated before the tuning is different and there is twice the amount of distortion that Metallica used which was in Standard tuning. I wish I knew what band this was because its a nice thrash riff...I don't know about Lamb of God and its definitely not Mastodon, but I will have to check out the new Lamb of God album to see.

The King said...

It is Disposable Heroes but the song on Rail n Rock was redone by a band called Ceremonial Oath...Their song is in a little bit different tuning and there is more of a double bass.

I'm enjoying the conversation this posting has encouraged, but I need to advise readers that I have not been allowing all the comments I have received.

Some have been outright mean, directly attacking the commentor rather than sticking to the main question/discussion and I have rejected them.

Please keep this in mind when posting and I will continue to let you have your say.

I would LOVE to find out the correct answer to this enigma.

Keep on rockin'
Mickie

chuck giles said...

thank you king i am thankful that someone is able to come out the gate and clear that up for people that dont understand, i know its disposable heroes, i know my metallica songs and thank you mickie for keeping the posting clean, i love you and keep up the trivia it was mind boggling to listen to that song over and over i even dvr'ed the commercial and played the song together lmao, i love being right lol

chuck giles said...

kind u were close but have you herd chimarias version of disposable heroes i think its their version of it, everyone use your limewire and get it, and take a quick gander and tell us what u think, its different tune than metallica but it sounds right

Mickie said...

Hugs to you Chuck! I hope you will continue to visit my blog. Be sure check out my End o' Week Musings on Fridays if you're interested in what's going on in my world... Also, keep me up to date on your fights-- kick butt, you rocker dude you!

I only threw lamb of god out there as a possiblity bc they stick mostly drop d and I'm big into them but I'll check out that band you mentioned the one ending in oath I don't think it's the cover by chimaria bc they play mostly drop c

Anonymous said...

Who is the guy in the commercial that has the the leather jacket with a fur collar what band is he from?

Scott said...

If its Lamb of God I haven't found the song and I own the Kerrang! cover album of Master of Puppets, and haha, no way its Chimaira, their version is even slower than Metallica's. I still cannot believe I can't figure this out.

Anonymous said...

Was a decision ever made on who did the Rail N Rock theme song and what teh name of the song is?

Will Satcher said...

i just want to throw in my name with all the people who are killing themselves to find out this song. its not metallicas disposable heroes i have listened to the exact part that chuck is talking about though it does sound a lot like it thats not it... but damn close. i just wanna get that commercial on my ipod hahaha

Anonymous said...

Ya, I just want to get the song on my iPod as well Somebody, please supply the correct answer.

Thanks!

Anonymous said...

The song is Ghosts of War the cover by hatebreed, if you watch the video you will see clips from the commercial.

Anonymous said...

If my previous comment wasnt posted, the song is the cover of Ghosts of War by Hatebreed, if you watch the music video for it you will see clips from the commercial.

Unknown said...

The Ghost of War music video looks like the commercial but the song is definitely not the same. I am eager to find out what this song is as well.

The King said...

As I was watching the video for Hatebreeds Ghosts of war video and comparing it with the rail n rock commercial the more I am convinced this is it. There are clips of the Hatebreed video in the commercial and I think the music from the commercial is the very beginning where it is quieter than the rest of the song...They just made it louder and looped it for the commercial. I am almost 100% this is it. The more you listen to disposable heroes by anyone the less it sounds like the commercial.

Check it out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOm3b89Prvc

This has got to be it.

Anonymous said...

In that case it would the original Slayers ghosts of war, cause they play that version in the beginning of the cover song from Hatebreed's

Anonymous said...

it sounds alot like unrepentent by trivium im jus goin off memory im not sure though

Unknown said...

i may be a little late but its def hatebreed watch it on youtube u can see parts of the video are in the commercial

Unknown said...

It is in fact "Disposable Heroes" by "Ceremonial Oath." The song is on the "A Tribute to Metallica" album and can be heard here:
http://www.last.fm/listen/artist/Ceremonial%2BOath/similarartists#pane=webRadioPlayer&station=%252Flisten%252Fartist%252FCeremonial%252BOath%252Fsimilarartists

Anonymous said...

I think it is "Disposable Heroes" from Chimaira, but definitely need confirmation. Has anyone been able to get the exact answer?

Dean said...

I can honestly say it isn't disposable heroes, nor slayer or hatebreed. I recorded the commercial and listened to each song listed on this forum carefully. None of the songs listed are the ones on the commercial. Unless someone knows the exact song instead of guessing what it is, i dont think we're going to figure using this method.

im right said...

yea the song played is the chorus to the song "the night" by disturbed... thats why you see the singers for them at the end of the commercial and i think the guitar player you see is also from the band. but yea listen to the guitar in "the night".

Eli said...

Sorry, but Chuck is definitely wrong, the riff from the commercial varies in it's pitch, the riff he's thinking of is one continuous loop, it doesn't vary in it's tonality like the one from the commercial does. I hope someone can figure it out, I really love the riff.

Anonymous said...

it isnt the night by disturbed. the guitar is different in the commercial. and there are a lot of bands in the commercial so just because distrurbed was shown it doesnt mean that it was disturbed. mick thompson was shown but the song isnt a slipknot song

Anonymous said...

Chuck, this is NOT Disposable Heroes by Metallica.

Anonymous said...

it might be unrepentent by trivium. the beginning sounds a lot like it.

Eli said...

Definitely not Trivium either. The riff in that song isn't heavy enough.

Anonymous said...

It's unrepentant by Trivium. It sounds exactly like it during the begining of the song.

Anonymous said...

the song is Desolation by Betrayal, MTV's edit has dropped vocals and the entire track is sped up to create the guitar riff you're all whining about.
