Ovatronics at Knitting Factory Wednesday

Producing original music in the congested world of hip-hop is not easy to do these days. But Ovatronics are one click that truly brings something fresh to the table.

Californians have always done things a little differently though, a little more laid back than the rest of us. And hailing from that particularly creative part of the universe has certainly played its part in moulding Ovatronics sound.

As a group, Ovatronics has been together for over a decade. And after all those years of hard work, they are ready to break into the mainstream with an incendiary, original, hard-hitting new album – ‘Non Disclosure’.

You might ask why you haven’t heard the name Ovatronics before. As they say themselves on this record, they want to stay independent. And it’s for that, as much as the quality of their music, that they should be praised.

The independent spirit courses through the whole album. Ovatronics sound like no one else. They take the best elements of trip-hop, electronica, funk and techno and combine them with conscious lyrics and great delivery to produce a package that will make any hip-hop head worthy of the name take notice.

Ovatronics sound like a party where Outkast are chilling with Portishead, while Nas, Rakim and Jay-Z battle over a poolside party. In other words, this is hip-hop heaven, with an original twist.
From the party anthems like ‘Hot Wheels’ through the political commentary of ‘Wars On’ and right up to the statement track of ‘Cold ClocN’, every tune on this album is a stone cold killer.

And you don’t have to take our word for it. You can catch the Ovatronics boys live all over California this Spring, kicking off at the Knitting Factory on LA’s Hollywood Boulevard on April 22.
