Shimmy Showcase Sunday resumes April 19

NO SHIMMYSHOWCASE THIS SUNDAY DUE TO EASTER HOLIDAY

We'll be resuming on April 19th with "Movie Night" (see dateils below)

Below is our upcoming schedule for the next several Sundays at the Coffee Haven in Long Beach. If you are a dancer interested in performing at an upcoming showcase, please check out the schedule below for open dates and then email us at

April 19: Lights, Camera, ACTION! Shimmyshowcase goes to the movies as Saviya invites you to join her for an evening of film-inspired bellydancing. Richie, Reina, Meryem Vani, Devon and Ilana will join Saviya in picking their inspiration—old, new, romantic, comedy, horror—from favorite movie musical scores or theme songs and setting it to bellydance. Something completely different and completely fun that is sure to delight! This show is so popular with dancers that it’s full already!

April 26: Ansuz is an awesome band that defies classification and once again we get the honor to present their fine fusion of traditional music! Alexiis isthrilled to present The Om Sisters, Brandie, Perizad, Reina, La Shonda,Estra and Leon!.This is bound to be a night you won't soon forget. Too manyfine dancers to miss. Please arrive before 6:30 to ensure a seat!

May 3: Once again Shimmyshowcase is very pleased and proud to present our favorite musicians of ANSUZ. Xandra has Sabrina, Katya, Veronique, Patricia, Yasmin, and Jamali already eager to perform.

May 10: Dark – NO SHIMMYSHOWCASE (Mothers’ Day)

May 17: Dark -- NO SHIMMYSHOWCASE (Past experience has shown that parking on in Long Beach on Gay Pride Day is much worse than usual, so we take this night off)

May 24: In honor of the holiday, we present our third annual “In Memoriam” Shimmyshowcase. Coordinator Saviya will be joined by dancers Kamar, Lylli, and Deborah in sharing their memories of individuals whom they have loved or honored through their own unique, personal dance interpretation. If you are a dancer who would like to memorialize someone who means something to you, please contact us at shimmyshowcase@yahoogroups.com.

May 31: Abraiha presents May, Asaleh, Akiko and Cayla at Shimmyshowcase.

June 7: The scent of incense; the sound of chimes—Saviya brings “Asian Spice” to Coffee Haven with Delilah, Richie, and perhaps some Kabuki dolls with their own unique interpretations of the mystery and enchantment of the Far East.
